My friend Ashlee is about to have a baby and I just finished the quilt for him/her! The pattern is one of Elizabeth Hartman’s designs from ohfransson.com. I really like modern quilt design and her style is very inspirational to me. I am still very new to quilting and I have a lot to learn. Mostly I just wing it, but her book The Practical Guide to Patchwork is probably the best teacher I could have had. The was really simple and easy to throw together. It took a couple of weeks between working and procrastinating to finish. I had the fabric since the beginning of summer. The owls are my favorite part.
The next project I’m working on is a diaper bag for Ashlee. I am just in the beginning stages because I was busy making a halloween costume with my mom. It is a design from Watermelon Wishes. I started measuring my pieces and realized I didn’t have enough fabric for all of the pockets so I had to order more. I am using Joel Dewberry Heirloom Fabric in Citrine for the bag. Since I am short fabric, I ordered one more pattern from Fabric Worm (my fave fabric online store). I am in love with the orange and blue together. Hopefully it will get here in a couple days and I can start working. I am going to try to quilt the outside of the bag as I go, so hopefully that will work out. Insert seam ripper here.
I also just bought a couple pre-made fat quarter stacks that arrived in the mail yesterday. I’m not sure what I will do with them yet. I need a good fat quarter quilt design! I am on the hunt.
